The Two Fountains

One of the many responsibilities I have as a mom is bathing my children. It's so much easier now than when they were babies. I always hated those infant bathtubs. The kids did, too, if all the crying was indicative of their feelings. Who wants to take a bath in three inches of water? Especially when it goes from somewhat warm to freezing in about thirty seconds. I get that the umbilical area can get infected, but the whole process is almost cruel, really.

Now that Abby and Perrin are older, they enjoy bath time a good deal more than they used to. Abby continues to act like she could live in the bathtub. She can actually float if I forget to turn the water off soon enough. Perrin usually wants to get out about ten minutes in. This kind of confuses me, as he is the "neat freak" child. If he gets something on his hands he gets all concerned and holds them out to me with this look on his face like he's afraid they'll fall off if I don't get them clean right away. I had to CONVINCE him to put his hands into the potting soil when we planted my peony bushes. He about lost it the first time I stuck his hand in it. I thought boys were supposed to LIKE dirt.

I took some pictures of them when they had their bath today. In spite of the fact that I may be scarring them for life by letting them bathe together, it saves water. (Being "green" is in now, right?)
Now, if I could just get them to keep the water IN the tub... Maintenance has already replaced the seal along the floor once and I've had to re-stick it several times since then. I have tried to spare the floor by bathing the kids in their wading pool outside during the summer ( not naked, mind you ), but I don't know that it's really made much difference. I haven't noticed anything growing out of the floor yet. That must be a good sign. In a couple of weeks it won't be my problem anymore anyway. At least I've got a few interesting pictures of my kids hosing down the bathroom. Maybe I'll put them to use watering the lawn if it gets dry this summer. You don't think that constitutes child abuse do you?
