A New Quest

I found a list at the library entitled, "The 100 Greatest Books of the Century". I've decided to work my way through it. I've already read twenty-three of them, so I've got a good start. I checked out three more today, including Faulkner's "The Sound and the Fury". I read "Watership Down" last week. It's not on the list, but it was a good read nonetheless. Who'd have thought a book about rabbits could be so interesting? I read "The Picture of Dorian Gray" the week before last. One more thing I owe to James Blunt. I can't believe it wasn't a book I read in high school. It should have been.

I figure I can read two books a week, on average. More, if I can turn off the television and stay away from the computer. That means I should be finished with the list in thirty-eight and a half weeks. I think. I'm not good with math. Much better at reading. I need to get into a book club or something. It might be fun to discuss some of these books with other people who've read them. Do people read older books anymore?

At least all of this reading seems to be doing something for the ennui that had set in. It gives my idle mind some exercise. Maybe soon, I'll be able to write about something interesting. At least I've made sure to have more than one post for the month, right? That puts me ahead of some other blog writers.
